Check a: the use of “alighted” in the NASB
This is a good example of the NASB using words that are rare in English. While their use of “alighted” is accurate, it is hardly a common word and will probably confuse most readers unfamiliar with equestrian terminology. In an unscientific poll, I’ve asked 15 people what “alighted” meant, and only one person knew (he remembered it from a song about a story from Genesis). Using archaic or unfamiliar language hampers communication.
